and the Sonu Nigam dancers bounce back on stage. The
possessed woman dances with them, while the audience
shouts “Jadoo! Jadoo! Jadoo!” in time to
the music.
My Husband is Corrupt, and
I’m Proud of Him!
In this segment, we have four ladies
dressed in designer clothes and jewelry, wearing designer
shoes and carrying designer bags. We find out that these
women are all the wives of various corrupt men: politicians,
bureaucrats, army members, etc. But when Jerry attempts
to ask them about their lifestyles, they show no remorse
for their husbands’ misdeeds.
“So, why don’t you tell
me a little bit about yourself?” asks Jerry.
The first lady says, “We own
a house in Karachi, another in Islamabad, a farm in
Lahore, an apartment in London, and a condo in Florida.”
The second says, “All our children went to Ivy
League colleges even though my husband only makes twenty
five thousand rupees a year.”
The third says, “My husband pays
no income tax. In fact the government owes him money!”
Jerry says incredulously, “But
don’t you feel guilty that your husbands are cheating
and corrupt?”
The fourth lady stands up, brandishing her Prada bag
dangerously. “Of course not! My husband earned
this money legally! He is allowed benefits! It’s
the privilege you get after giving fifteen years of
loyal service to the country!”
