Magic Voodoo
This segment involves two neighbors
who believe each is performing black magic on the other.
Like the first segment, the two start off sitting in
chairs next to each other, but both are so agitated
that they soon fling the chairs aside and stand up.
“What seems to be the problem, ladies?”
asks Jerry.
“Jerry, my neighbor has been
jealous of me since I moved in next door to her. My
husband has a better job than hers does, we have a nicer
house, and a bigger car. So she has put nasar on me.
I’m sure she’s doing jadoo. Look what I
found in my garden this morning!” The woman holds
up a dead mouse by the tail.
“That’s nothing!”
shouts the second neighbor. “I have a beautiful
daughter, much more beautiful than the cow she bought
from the market and has the nerve to call a girl! She’s
so jealous that my daughter gets rishtas and hers gets
none that she went to a pir and got a bandish done on
my daughter. My daughter woke up and her face is covered
in boils!” Cue the woeful daughter who enters
with a veil covering her face; the mother rips off the
veil to reveal the daughter, her skin disfigured by
red pockmarks, which have been clearly painted on her
with a red magic marker.
The first woman, on hearing this,
immediately starts to scream and wail that she is being
possessed by a jinni under the second woman’s
control. A mullah is brought out on stage and tries
to perform an exorcism on the second neighbor. Suddenly,
the lights go down, the music starts,
