The
Evil Saas-Bahu Segment
In this segment, mother-in-laws and daughter-in-laws
come on the show to do battle with one another in true
Jerry Springer style. Saas and Bahu start off sitting
down in chairs next to each other, with Jerry asking
“Why can’t you just get along together?
You love the same man!” But soon the accusations
start: “My Bahu is a lazy good for nothing, she
won’t get up before twelve pm, she never cooks,
and she doesn’t keep the house clean…”
“Well, my Saas is an interfering
old cow, she brainwashes her son against me and makes
him think I’m the root of all evil. If she keeps
this up I’m going to move out and take her son
with me – to Canada!”
At this point the mother-in-law
screams and goes into a simulated heart attack on the
stage. Burly men dressed as paramedics from Edhi come
on stage to give the Saas emergency care, but all of
a sudden the lights dim, music begins to play, and the
paramedics tear off their uniforms to reveal black leather
pants and string vests. They go into a dance routine
based on the latest Sonu Nigam song and the evil Bahu
dances with them while the Saas writhes on the floor
in agony.
After the song and dance routine
is over, Jerry feeds the Saas her heart medication.
Instantly revived, she leaps up and begins to strangle
the Bahu. The son, a pathetic, wimpy figure who looks
as though he’s been on the Atkins diet since he
was born, comes on to stage, trying to separate the
two women, but get pushed aside and falls off the stage.
Cue more music and dancing with the audience joining
in.
