after a draining emotional episode,
but the same is no less true for women.
Women, on the other hand, are
seen by Grey (and many others!) as emotional, inherently
defective people who have to break down irrationally
on a regular basis because that is how they are built.
There are so many things wrong with this premise that
it would take a whole thesis to cover them all. Suffice
it to say that women have proved themselves over and
over again to be strong, resilient human beings who
can handle all that life throws at them and more.
Grey says that when a woman has 'crashed', the best
way to handle her is to give her love and tenderness,
and support her till she is back on top of her wave
again. But men are in as dire need of love and tenderness
as women, and that goes for support in times of difficulty
and stress as well.
The point is that men and women
are not polar opposites, but human beings who needs
are incredibly similar. To think of the opposite gender
as some sort of mysterious creation, to study their
moods and habits as explained by the 'experts', to
spend hours analyzing and figuring them out, is a
waste of time. If you want to know what a man might
feel about a certain situation, just ask him. His
opinion isn't going to be completely the opposite
just because he is a man. If you want to know what
to talk about with a woman, just try to see her as
a human being, and engage her on a human level, with
good conversation and a friendly demeanour.
Isn't that what you want from anyone, regardless of
their sex?
